Just getting started...


That's the lovely Ursula Buchfellner strolling on the beach at Ibiza, reminding us all that "hot dogs" are universal. Kinda neat!

We have more reviews on the way including a short video visit to Chroni's in East Los Angeles with Enrique, Ken and Harvey (in spirit).

December Expeditions - Pasadena & Hollywood


Next week we'll be dispatching a team to Pasadena to sample both The Slaw Dogs and The Dog Haus. Later in December we'll be trapping Pinks and Skooby's in Hollywood.

At the minimum Slaw Dogs promises a West Coast rethink of the classic Southern slaw dog (see the gorgeous Hawk Krall illustration and review and get a "boots on the ground" view from the West Virginia Hot Dogs blog. For the final word - see the slaw mapping project of West Virginia!

Sonoran Hot Dog - Flavors Without Borders


Hot dogs are international and respect few borders. Angelenos know a variation on the Sonoran dog (lifted from Sabores Sin Fronteras) from street vendors selling bacon wrapped dogs grilled on makeshift carts outside sporting events and street fairs. And there are an endless variations such as the Tijuana Dog (see Hawk Krall's illustration below) that keep the devoted on the march for new sightings.
